As a La Jolla maternity photographer, I love bringing clients to La Jolla Cove‘s stunning backdrop! It never gets old! I even did my own maternity photoshoot there as well! So I can say with full confidence that it is one of my favorite places to shoot! When you are pregnant, it’s great to have a lot of different backdrops all nearby. If your pregnancy has been tiresome, you don’t want to be walking around a lot and especially on soft sand! La Jolla cove gives you options on dirt, cement, grass and sand! I couldn’t be happier for them! I also did their family portraits the previous year. To get asked to take a family portrait again is such an honor! Getting to see how my clients families continue to grow and go through milestones is such a privilege! I always want to make sure they are getting the best experience possible! So when doing a maternity/ family session, always ask what they are comfortable with. If they have a wild little one who shouldn’t be on cliffs, make sure you let them know ahead of time what the terrain will be like, etc. It’s important to have your clients be informed of the scenery for their safety and their kids.
Timing of the session is important when photographing babies and toddlers. Check with your client if the proposed time works with their little ones nap schedule. Usually early morning is best, but if they can make it for sunset then shoot for that! If treats are going to be used as bribes, make sure they are colorless and don’t have a lot of crumbs! By colorless, I mean like no colored lollipops.
