When choosing your outfits for your family photos, take into consideration your backdrops. Make sure your colors contrast your backdrop colors, but are still within your scenic backdrop. Prints for example should be limited to one per 4 or 5 people. If there are too many prints within the group, it will be too distracting. Then it competes with your backdrops too. So it’s a good idea to plan your outfits ahead of time. You want to see them all laid out so you can see how they would look together. You can also ask your photographer for feedback too. Send pics of the outfits together.
While on the topic of clothes, make sure to bring an extra set for your little ones. More likely than not, they will run into the water and get wet. So you want to make sure they are bundled up and warm after the session. It’s also a great idea to have an extra set of clothes for your kids in case they get a little too excited and spill something on their clothes towards the beginning of the session. I would also suggest waiting till you arrive to your shoot location to change them into their photo clothes. This helps avoid any spills on your way to the session.
