As a La Jolla family photographer, we are used to getting a lot of tourists come visit San Diego. What better way to remember a trip than with a professional photo session. If you are traveling with family, you get some epic family photos too! Family trips are filled with laughs and memories and having photos to look back and reflect on, that aren’t a bunch of selfies, is so precious! San Diego is beautiful anytime of the year, even when it’s overcast! The coastline, along La Jolla, is especially my favorite! You get rocks, cliffs, greenery, palm trees, white sands and more! In these La Jolla Cove Family Photos | DT, it was their first family shoot with the newest member of the family!
When you are considering a family shoot with extended family, (for example including siblings or parents), it doesn’t hurt to take a moment to visualize the ensemble of outfits. I usually recommend choosing three colors and sticking choosing colors within that color palette. For every four or five people, one person can wear a print. Too many prints can get distracting, so just one or two people can. You can also vary types of clothes, so like pants and long dresses, or skirts and shorts. Jackets are great too, weather permitting.
Another thing to consider when having a big group for your family photos is any must have photos. Usually your photographer will know the different combinations to organize you in, but just to be sure, always communicate specific photos you want. Even poses too. If they want that photo of them holding the baby in the air like Simba, remember to write that down. That way before your session is over, you can quickly review and make sure you have everything you need.
