As an Encinitas family photographer, I love seeing my clients year after year and seeing how their families grow! Whether in number or in age! Especially when the kids are super young and you see them evolve before your camera lens! It can feel overwhelming to have a family shoot with little ones. The logistics, wardrobe, timing, but you don’t have to feel like it has to be a big production! You can have your family shoot either at your home or down the street from your house! Make it easy on yourself. In these Encinitas Family Photos | V + C brought me back to their home and I have loved seeing how their little ones have grown fond of the camera!
Choosing an outfit for your family portrait season keeps a lot of people from booking a session. Don’t let that happen to you! You can keep it casual or you can make it an excuse to dress up. Whatever feels like you guys as a family! My only suggestion is to choose three colors and tick within shades of the colors. Have only one person per family of four or five use a print or pattern. You don’t want the photo to look too busy! Give yourself some time before the session date to make sure everything fits and the look is cohesive.
Working with little ones can be very unpredictable. They can all be cooperative or they can all be on their own agenda. Don’t fret! The last thing you want to do is force them into something. They will rebel. If they want to run free, let them, it will make for great candids. Of course make sure you are in a safe area where cars won’t drive by. If the parents can avoid getting stressed, it will help the situation. I feel like the kids can feel the stress. So keep calm 🙂
