Desert Dunes Elopement | Caroline + Jacob

What a dream this desert dunes elopement was with Caroline + Jacob! I shot this just outside of San Diego at Glamis San Dunes. It feels like you are in the Saharan desert, but saves you lots of time and money on a flight to Morocco! If you are feeling that desert dunes elopement vibe then Glamis is definitely a place to consider. We started in Downtown San Diego for the getting ready and detail shots.

I cannot stress enough how just because you are eloping you shouldn’t get the full attention as a full wedding. This includes getting ready photos. For me an elopement means you are focusing the attention more on the couple and the purpose of the wedding. The exchange of vows, the location. An elopement can be just the two of you or also with close friends and family. There is less of the traditional must do’s and more about what reflects you two as a couple. So if you are both avid hikers and enjoy the outdoors, then get married on a mountain top! Something that has meaning and purpose to your relationship.

So this is why I say you can totally just have your ceremony and portraits photographed for your elopement, but it is a special day and you may want to have memories of the small details like getting ready, the expressions on each others faces as you are getting ready which is something you don’t actually get to see. So just want to make sure you know you have that same option as someone who is having an elopement and not a full wedding. The beautiful invites were done by Lynn, you can check her out here.

So many jaw dropping moments!! Let’s start from head to toe. THAT CROWN!!!!! OMG!!! Even if you are not getting married I think everyone should have a crown like this!!! You can get one from the talented Weekend Sommer. Then sparkle away in this sequence number from Fashion Nova. Top it off with these stunning and moody florals from Paola of LevantLane. Legit perfection!!!

Just as I mentioned that you can still have the getting ready experience documented, you can still have the same fun treats as a full wedding. If you have always wanted a special cake or dessert for your wedding that is still totally an option. Depending on how high we are climbing, maybe treats are better than a 3 tiered cake, but hey we can always figure things out 🙂 This beautiful cake was done by Jenny Wenny Cakes and the table setting by Anthropologie.
