Cabrillo National Monument Wedding | S + A
As a San Diego wedding photographer, I love when wedding and elopements take me to new venues! San Diego is full of scenic and beautiful backdrops! It’s definitely hard to choose where to have your wedding! In this Cabrillo National Monument Wedding | S + A had their ceremony, friends and family photos at Cabrillo and then did formal couple portrait at Balboa Park. Funny enough, I ended up having two Cabrillo National Monument elopements in the same year! A summer version and a winter version, both beautiful! In order to learn more about obtaining a permit for the ceremony, please read the information on their website.

It was a very sunny day when the ceremony was going on and there is minimal shade at Cabrillo. For the ceremony portion, you are totally exposed to the sunlight, so make sure to angle your couple so you can see their faces clearly. There are two spots, where I would consider great spots for the ceremony. Each wedding I shot here last year did one of those two spots. I would say it depends on the headcount on which location I would go with. This one was a small group where they could all fit along the border of the brush. I liked this spot cause you can see the side of the cliff. The other spot holds more people.

Pops of color look great with this backdrop! So is you are having a spring or summer wedding, definitely encourage your guests to brighten up their looks! Following friends and family portraits, we headed over to Balboa Park! It is not necessary to add a second location as Cabrillo offers various backdrops, don’t forget the tide pools down below! Balboa Park is beautiful and their reception was nearby there! So we did an hour of couple portraits there. Safe to say the wedding gallery was extremely diverse in backdrops! From the cliffside beaches to European architecture! Gotta love San Diego!
