Balboa Park Maternity Photos | Colette + Alan

As a San Diego maternity photographer, I love when my wedding clients become my maternity clients! To get to see couples progress and grow their relationship is so beautiful! In these Balboa Park Maternity Photos | Colette + Alan are welcoming their first baby! I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding at the beautiful Ponte Winery. Previously we had done their engagement session at La Jolla Cove. So we went from the beach to the winery and now to the park! It’s always fun to mix up your backdrops!

When shooting in the morning, you either want to make sure you start super early or you photograph at a location where you can find shade. The most ideal time in the morning is the first hour after sunrise. Of course not everyone wants to wake up that early. Starting at hour two is ok, just make sure you have shaded areas in mind.

As a San Diego pregnancy photographer, Balboa Park offers great diverse backdrops! Whether you are looking for greenery, architecture, florals, etc! You can stick to one category or you can shoot all over. Weekdays at Balboa Park are always best as it usually has less people. With the exception of summertime of course. Mornings are a great time there! Balboa Park is huge though, so no sweat!

When photographing summer sessions, make sure to let your clients know to stay extra hydrated and to avoid getting sunburns. These simple tips will make for a successful session and especially editing session! Other tips you can offer your clients is wardrobe feedback. Let your clients know that they can send you photos of their outfits so you can make suggestions. You want to make sure your photos look cohesive and aesthetically pleasing.
