WEDDING photos: San Diego County Courthouse

I can never stress enough how much I enjoy shooting San Diego Courthouse weddings. There really are so many diverse backdrops you could easily spend the whole day circling the San Diego County Administrator Building. San Diego really lends itself for a beautiful civil marriage ceremony. These wedding photos: This intimate San Diego County Courthouse was shot last week. They brought their dog Rigby, so ready for the camera!

Isn’t her wedding bouquet beautiful?! It is from San Diego Local Florist, Native Poppy. They do amazing work and I would highly recommend them for any of your floral needs! It was a beautiful sunny day! They got married in the morning. I think the best times are between 9-10am and 2 hours before sunset for your ceremony time.

Their parents and dog were the only guests. So we definitely had some time to shoot the family portraits. There was a beautiful yellow rose bush, which coincidentally matched with the groom’s father’s tie! The lighting was perfect and when I had scouted with the couple a week prior to, we had chosen this location for portraits.

We started the formal portraits where we did the family portraits just because the light was so even. I knew it was going to be a little rush to beat the sun before it came over the San Diego County Administrator building. The couple had mentioned to me that they are awkward in front of the camera. They were totally bluffing because they were naturals in front of the camera. I would just talk them through it, to make them feel comfortable and once they release, it’s game on!

The pinks walls of the San Diego County Administrator building give me such old Hollywood vibes! I always suggest to the brides to wear a flowy dress. Doesn’t necessarily have to be long, but one that moves. This makes for beautiful movement in the photos.
