UCSD Grad Portraits | Sara K.
As a San Diego senior grad photographer, I love visiting all the different campuses! Each one is so unique and beautiful! Whether it’s a college grad photo session or a high school senior portrait session, they all offer interesting backdrops. Locations for your grad photos doesn’t stop there though, you can totally choose to go off campus and onto the beach, park, meadow and more! Whatever reflects your personality should be what you choose as your backdrop. For these UCSD Grad portraits | Sara K. decided to split her session up between the Geisel Library at UCSD and Scripps Beach in La Jolla.

If I had it my way, I would have seniors and grads schedule their portrait sessions around March/April. What happens is that in May/June, Southern California gets the infamous, May Gray and June Gloom. Not to say you can’t get beautiful portraits taken during that time, as we did here. If you are determined to have sun though, then I would consider scheduling ahead of time. The only possible dilemma there is if you can’t get your stole in time. You could also use one form a prior year.

Before your grad portrait session, I would review with your client their outfit choices and their location choices. Furthermore, if they want a variety of photos with and without the grad attire. Not everyone wants to wear the formal gap and gown. Some might wear it open, some might just want to wear a cute outfit instead. It’s always a good idea to ask your client so you are prepared on the day of the session. Feel free to offer suggestions too. Sometimes your clients don’t know that they have options. You want them to feel like they got more than what they expected from the session!
