San Diego Marriage License Civil Wedding Photos | M+J
As a San Diego courthouse wedding photographer, I love when couples want to add a second location to their couple portrait portion. Don’t get me wrong, Waterfront park, which is adjacent to the San Diego County Recorder Clerk office, is beautiful, but having Balboa Park just a short drive away is a major bonus! If you want to have that European feel to your wedding portraits, then definitely consider Balboa Park. There is so much in architecture, floras, museums. The park is huge and we won’t get to everything, but you can certainly pick your top favorites. In these San Diego Marriage License Civil Wedding Photos | M+J added Balboa Park to their session.

One thing to notice about M + J’s wedding is the location of their ceremony. Sometimes, the usual outdoor arbor on the west side is not accessible when there is an event being set up. They usually have it posted here, but I don’t think it is currently updated for 2025. It’s a good thing to check if you for sure want your ceremony under the arbor and want access to waterfront park. Depending on how big the event is, the entire west and north side is closed off for event set up. Know that if you do end up scheduling your ceremony on an impacted day, you can choose your ceremony location wherever it’s opened. I like this one on the mound.

If you want to triple check, you can always call the office and ask them if your date will be impacted. Since the website doesn’t seem to be updated, that is the best way. Know that I have photographed courthouse weddings under all circumstances so I am always prepared. This is why it’s great that we have Balboa Park so close for these occurrences.
