As a San Diego courthouse wedding photographer, I love capturing the love between the bride and groom! When they have smiles from ear to ear, it just warms your heart! Many people think that a San Diego civil wedding doesn’t get as emotional as a “traditional” all day wedding. Sometimes it’s referred to as ‘just a quick civil ceremony’. For me, anytime you are standing in front of your partner and declaring your love and commitment to them, it’s important. It doesn’t matter if the guest count is 1 or 100, whether you are celebrating for two hours or ten hours. While the love emotions are as high as a “traditional wedding” the stress is definitely not! That is the great thing about having a civil wedding. It keeps your wedding day simple so the focus stays on you and your partner! All you have to do is fill out your marriage application, pick a weekday, (Santee office offers one Saturday appointment a month), pick a time and let whoever you want to join you the details. The entire experience can be the ceremony, friends and family photos and couple portraits. If you want to add a “reception”, there are so many restaurants nearby for your guests or for you and your partner. You can also add time for your couple portraits if you want to add another location. Some clients like to add the beach or Balboa Park or whatever place resonates with them.
SO remember, wear that dress you have dreamed of, put on that custom blazer, get the flowers that make you happy, get dolled up, hit up the barber, OR don’t! You can do what feels right for you and your partner as each other and as a couple. Just enjoy and be present in the moment!
