When shooting on the beach, expect to get your toes sandy and feet wet! No need to worry about footwear! The beach is a great place for family portraits. Kids can walk and run freely and splish splash in the water. I would suggest beaches that have lots of sand. There are some beaches that are more rocky and less sandy. Booking your session when the tide is low is ideal and key for great photos! Beaches that have reefs really shine at low tide. Kids can play around and investigate them. This makes for great candid photos!
If you are visiting San Diego in the summer, or are local and booking in the summer, remember to protect your skin! Many times I get tourists who underestimate the sun here. Many end up getting sunburned because they spent the day at Sea World or touring around. Please make sure to wear sunscreen, because looking like a lobster isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Even if it is overcast! The sun is still there! This is especially true during “May Gray” or “June Gloom”.
