As a La Jolla family photographer, it’s so amazing to see your wedding clients come back and have you capture their family grow! There are so many different places in San Diego to capture your family photos. It all depends on your preference. Also, if you have young kids or babies, wherever you feel would be more comfortable and secure. If you are looking for the prettiest San Diego coastline, then look no further than La Jolla! It offers such diverse backdrops, whether it’s palm trees, flowers, cliffs, ocean and more! In these La Jolla Cove Family Maternity Photos | A + G is welcoming their second child and also celebrating their adorable toddler!

The best times to photograph at La Jolla Cove is at sunset. You can do it in the morning, but you would have to start super early. The reason is because once the sunlight hits the ocean, it gets super bright and harsh. Since some parts dip down, they are still shaded. So now you have a harsh contrast of sunlight and shade. So to get the even light, the best time is at sunset. The magic hour light is one hour before sunset. If you have a longer session, then you a choose other parts that are more evenly lit. Then head down to the water.

For maternity sessions, I love long maxi dresses! It gives a lot of movement to the photos. Sleeveless or long sleeves are great. I would avoid using bell sleeves. The reason is that when you place your hands on your baby bump, the bell sleeve covers the bump. Therefore, tight long sleeves or, 3/4 or short sleeves is idea. Cap sleeve or off the shoulder sleeve are also great! Just know that your arm movement will be limited. So make sure to try on your dress beforehand so you know how it will feel.
