As a La Jolla proposal photographer, I share the same excitement as the proposer on photo day! I make sure to get there early, in case my client arrives early. Also to make sure the spot we had discussed and confirmed is available. Yes, there have been a couple rare times where the spot we had decided on was not available right before the actual proposal. Luckily I always have a back up spot and make sure to communicate that as soon as possible! Other important factor to discuss when shooting a beach proposal is the tide! Sometimes, you are lucky and the client has flexible dates, other times it has to be a certain date and you just have to make the tide work with you. In these La Jolla Beach Proposal Photos | A + S got a splash zone of a proposal and they were GREAT sports about it!

Fortunately, the big splash came at the end! Which we purposely wanted as a finale. The first splash came when he had gone down on one knee and she had already turned around. Her back got wet, but fortunately she was wearing a black dress and it wasn’t too noticeable. They were great sports about it and had fun with high tide. I can’t say every couple will have this same reaction, but I am so happy they were great sports about it.

Their friends had set up this beautiful sitting area with drinks and food that I had to quickly inform them that it will be underwater if they don’t relocate it. I made sure to get a photo of the original set up before they moved it to a higher area. They were still able to enjoy it after the session, thankfully! This was sure a proposal they will never forget! Nor I!
