As an Encinitas lifestyle photographer, it’s fun to bring brands to life through images. When photographing fashion brands, you always want to make sure you understand the their identity. What emotion does this brand evoke in you, what light feels right, what backdrops enhance the brand? These are items that you discuss before the actual shoot date. When shooting a brand for the first time, you definitely want to have a pre shoot call to discuss creative and shoot objectives. Unless you need group photos for your fashion shoot, I would go ahead and stagger the talent every 45 min. Especially when working with your kids and toddlers. Their attention spans are short and you don’t want them hanging around and getting bored. You want their energy up and happy. By staggering them, you avoid a lull time. Of course this timing is totally dependent on the number of outfits each talent has. So you may calculate it differently. It might take a few sessions, but you will get the hang of it.
When sending out your call sheet to talent, there are a few points to mention. Make sure they plan on arrive at least 5-10 minutes before their call time. This is because we want to give their parents some time to clean them up or wake them up from their nap. If they were eating snacks, bring wipes to clean their face. Make sure to let parents know that their nails should be clean, meaning no nail polish. Also, if they have any bandaids, to make sure they are natural color and not some bright cartoon color. You don’t want anything to distract from the clothes!
