TRAVEL photos: Vienna 2019

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a new country!!! So I was very excited when my mom agreed to do a weekend trip to Vienna, Austria while we were in Paris. I was so excited to be in a new country where I didn’t speak the language.

I am a fan of Mark Rothko’s art. So our first activity was to go to The Kunsthistorisches Museum to see his exhibit. There is something about being able to see paintings in person. It’s like in a way you feel you are in the same room as the artist because you know he touched this canvas. Easier to see texture in art in person as well.

Then we went to Schönbrunn Palace. Lots of people! It was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers, located in Hietzing, Vienna. There were little shops in the entrance to the grounds.

I was able to convince my mom to walk down to the canals! There was actually a marathon going on that day! So the main streets along the canal were closed, so it seemed like we had the place to ourselves.

There was a ton of graffiti! Art everywhere! It seemed like the city was ok with it as there were ads for learning how to do graffiti. My favorite photo is the one with the elderly lady on the swing! A kid at heart!

We were walking along the streets in the shopping district and then suddenly we came upon this amazing gothic / Neo-gothic church called St. Stephen’s Cathedral. It had such a presence! I was mesmerized! I couldn’t stop shooting it! We then visited the museum quarter (MuseumsQuartier) where there are a couple museums and cafes. Fortunately, all of this was walking distance from the hotel!
