Scripps Beach Engagement Photos | Ariel + Byron

As a San Diego engagement photographer, it is known that this is the time where many couples get engaged. Usually the timeframe is from the holidays to Valentine’s Day. So besides shooting engagement photos, proposal photos are also on the rise during this time of the year. Lately north side of Scripps Beach has been one of my favorite shoot locations. I suggested Scripps Beach engagement photos | Ariel + Byron because they wanted a beach with cliffs in the background.

When suggesting an engagement session location to your client, make sure you ask them what kind of backdrop of vision they have for their shoot. Sometimes that vision can change! Take it a step further and ask them why. If they are stuck for ideas, ask them about the type of activities they like to do together, or places they frequent often

Engagement shoots can be sooo fun!! You can totally think outside the box. If the couple has a favorite restaurant, then you can even shoot there. Have them order their favorite dishes and drinks! Make the shoot like a day in the life of this couple. You can add that lifestyle effect.

As a La Jolla engagement photographer, you can’t control the weather! It can be cloudy and overcast one minute and then the sun’s rays can come blasting through for a few minutes! When shooting, act as if you will never get that shot again. So when the sun decided to show itself I quickly changed their positions to capture that magic hour light that we all drool over!

Engagement photos are a great way for the wedding couple to be to practice being in fort of the camera. As a San Diego wedding photographer, I include complementary engagement sessions in 2 of my wedding packages. It’s a win – win for both sides!
